Forest River is a tiny farming town of 87 people in northeastern North Dakota's Walsh County. Located about 15 miles southwest of Grafton via County Road 17, it's accessible from Grand Forks by taking Highway 2 west to Grafton then following local roads. The community sits in fertile Red River Valley farmland where wheat and soybeans dominate the landscape. The town is named after the nearby Forest River, a Red River tributary that originally drew settlers to this corner of Walsh County.
