Folsom is a small town of about 700 people in northern St. Tammany Parish, 45 miles northeast of New Orleans via I-12 and Highway 25. The main routes are Highway 25 north-south and State Route 40 east-west, with I-12 providing regional access about 10 miles south. It sits in Louisiana's piney woods near the Mississippi border, adjacent to the 3,000-acre Bogue Chitto National Wildlife Refuge.
