Floydada is a small farming town on the Texas High Plains, about 50 miles northeast of Lubbock via US Highway 62. The county seat serves cotton and cattle country, with State Highway 207 providing north-south connections. The flat landscape stretches endlessly under big skies, dotted with wind turbines and grain elevators. Floydada proudly claims the title "Pumpkin Capital of the United States" and hosts an annual festival featuring giant pumpkins.
