Florence sits along US Highway 50 in Colorado's Arkansas River Valley, about 25 miles west of Pueblo and 45 miles south of Colorado Springs via Highway 115. The town serves as a convenient stop between Pueblo and the Royal Gorge area near Canon City. Most visitors use US 50 as the main route, though Highway 67 north leads through historic Cripple Creek. Florence claims the oldest continuously operating oil well in Colorado, still pumping since 1862.
