Floodwood is a small northern Minnesota town of 500 people, located 20 miles southwest of Duluth via Highway 2. The main route from Minneapolis takes I-35 north to Duluth, then Highway 2 west for about 30 minutes. County Road 133 provides north-south access to surrounding lake country and state forests. The Floodwood River flows right through downtown, giving the town its name from early logging days.
