Fleming Island sits on a peninsula between the St. Johns River and Black Creek, about 20 miles southwest of Jacksonville. Access is via State Road 220 from US Highway 17, with I-295 providing the main connection to Jacksonville. The community developed around what was once an actual island before roads connected it to the mainland. Eagle Harbor Golf Club offers a championship course with views of Doctors Lake.
