Flaming Gorge is a tiny Utah community of 21 people that serves as the gateway to Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area. Access is via US 191, which connects to I-80 about 40 miles south near Rock Springs, Wyoming. The area sits at 6,100 feet elevation with limited services, so plan fuel and charging stops in advance. The reservoir gets its name from red canyon walls that glow like flames at sunrise and sunset.
