Fillmore is a tiny farming town in south-central Illinois, about 20 miles northeast of Vandalia in Montgomery County. You'll reach it via Route 185 from US 51, the main north-south highway through this area. The town sits among endless corn and soybean fields on gently rolling prairie, with rich black soil that's made farming the backbone of the local economy for generations. The historic grain elevator still towers over the landscape, visible for miles across the flat farmland.
