Fernley sits along Interstate 80 about 30 miles east of Reno in Nevada's high desert. The city connects to Reno via I-80 west and serves as a junction for US 95A heading south toward Carson City. Most visitors pass through on cross-country I-80 trips or use it as a base for exploring Pyramid Lake to the north. The town features the Fernley 95A Speedway, a popular dirt track racing venue.
