Fayette is the county seat of Fayette County in west-central Alabama, located in the rolling Appalachian foothills about 30 miles northwest of Jasper. Highway 171 runs north-south through town, while Highway 18 provides east-west access to Interstate 22 for connections to Birmingham and beyond. The city centers around a traditional courthouse square, and its 1908 courthouse features a four-faced clock tower that's been keeping time for over a century.
