Farmers Loop is a residential community of about 5,000 people located 15 miles northeast of Fairbanks along the Steese Highway. The area gets its name from the original farming loop road that curves through forested hills before reconnecting with the main highway. Most residents commute to Fairbanks for work, while the scenic loop road attracts recreational drivers. The community maintains several small private airstrips, typical of Alaska's aviation-dependent culture.
