Falkner is a small Mississippi town of 760 people in Tippah County, about 15 miles from the Tennessee border. Highway 15 runs right through town, connecting north to Tennessee and south to Ripley. Most visitors use Highway 78 near Tupelo for longer trips to Memphis or Birmingham. The town is named after Colonel William Clark Falkner, great-grandfather of novelist William Faulkner, who built the area's first railroad in the 1880s.
