Fairport is a canal village about 10 miles southeast of Rochester, easily reached via I-490 or Route 31. The historic Erie Canal runs right through town, with Route 250 providing north-south access. Most visitors arrive from Rochester for short trips, though the interstate connections bring travelers from Syracuse and Buffalo. The 1914 Lift Bridge still operates daily during canal season, raising for passing boats.
