Fairmont is a southern Minnesota farm town of about 10,300 people, located 100 miles southwest of the Twin Cities via I-35 and US 169. The city sits at the intersection of US 169 (north-south) and State Highway 15 (east-west), with I-90 running 20 miles south for longer trips. It's built around five connected lakes and is home to the restored 1901 Fairmont Opera House, which still hosts live performances.
