Fairfield is a tiny county seat in south-central Idaho's high desert, reachable via Highway 20 from Boise (about 70 miles through Mountain Home) or from Sun Valley (45 miles west). Most traffic consists of ranchers and travelers heading to Craters of the Moon National Monument. The 1924 Camas County Courthouse ranks among America's smallest county courthouses.
