Fairdale is a tiny farming community of 16 people in far northeastern North Dakota, just 15 miles from Canada. Highway 1 runs right through town, connecting to Grand Forks 60 miles southeast via Highway 2. The flat prairie landscape stretches endlessly under big sky country, with harsh winters and warm summers typical of the northern Great Plains. Despite its small size, Fairdale still operates its own post office.
