Exmore is a small Eastern Shore town that sits right on US Route 13, the main highway connecting Virginia Beach to Maryland via the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. Most visitors are passing through on longer trips to Chincoteague Island or heading north to Delaware beaches. The surrounding area features flat coastal plains with salt marshes and farmland. As the Northampton County seat, Exmore's courthouse square showcases a distinctive Victorian brick courthouse from 1899.
