Evergreen is a tiny Louisiana community of under 300 people in Avoyelles Parish, about 25 miles north of Alexandria via Highway 1. Most visitors arrive from Alexandria or connect through there from Baton Rouge or Lafayette. The flat agricultural landscape and subtropical climate are typical of central Louisiana's interior. The local post office still serves as an informal community hub where residents gather.
