Evant is a tiny Hill Country town of about 500 people, located 60 miles northwest of Austin via Highway 183 north to Highway 29 west to Highway 281. The main route is Highway 281, which connects north to Hico and south to Lampasas. Most visitors come for the rural scenery and nearby state parks. The town's 1883 limestone courthouse still stands as a reminder of when Evant briefly served as the Coryell County seat.
