Etna is a small river town 8 miles northeast of Pittsburgh along the Allegheny River. Take Route 8 north from the city through Lawrenceville, or access it via Route 28 along the river. The compact borough sits between steep hills and the water, creating a tight-knit community of older homes and tree-lined streets. Its volunteer fire company, founded in 1896, operates from a historic firehouse on Butler Street.
