Emmett is a small farming town of 178 people in Pottawatomie County, about 20 minutes northwest of Manhattan via US Highway 24. From Kansas City, take I-70 west to the Wamego exit and head north through agricultural country. The town sits in the Kansas River valley surrounded by corn and soybean fields, with EV charging available in nearby Manhattan. Emmett still follows its original 1880s street layout, and many residents maintain large vegetable gardens that date back to the town's German and Swedish founding families.
