Emigration Canyon follows the original Mormon pioneer trail east of Salt Lake City, winding through cottonwood-lined foothills where 1,400 residents live along the historic route. Access the canyon via Foothill Drive from downtown Salt Lake City, about 20 minutes through the University of Utah area. The scenic canyon road connects to East Canyon Road for a back route to Park City. This Is The Place Heritage Park marks where Brigham Young first declared "This is the place" in 1847.
