Emerson is a small farming town in southwestern Iowa, connected to the region by Highway 34, which runs east to Red Oak and west to Glenwood. From Glenwood, you can reach Interstate 29 for trips to Omaha or Kansas City. The town sits in Iowa's agricultural heartland with a continental climate of hot summers and cold winters. Downtown still features the old Emerson State Bank building with its distinctive pressed brick facade from the early 1900s.
