Emerado is a small farming town of 346 people located 20 miles northwest of Grand Forks on Highway 2. The drive from Grand Forks takes about 25 minutes through flat Red River Valley farmland. Highway 81 provides north-south access, while Highway 2 connects east to Grand Forks and west toward Devils Lake. The town sits in prime agricultural country known for sugar beets and wheat, with one of North Dakota's original grain elevators still standing as a local landmark since 1952.
