Emelle is a tiny Alabama town of under 50 people in Sumter County's farm country. Take I-20 west from Birmingham to Exit 40, then Highway 17 south about 25 miles, or drive southwest from Tuscaloosa via Highway 69. It's home to one of America's largest commercial hazardous waste landfills.
