Elton is a small agricultural town in southwest Louisiana's Jefferson Davis Parish, home to 862 people surrounded by rice fields and cattle ranches. Located 30 miles northeast of Lake Charles, it's easily reached via I-10 to Exit 64 at Jennings, then north on Highway 26. The area's flat prairie landscape and subtropical climate support year-round farming operations. Elton hosts an annual Coushatta Tribe Powwow that attracts visitors from across the region.
