Elsie is a tiny farming town of 139 people in southwestern Nebraska's Perkins County. US Highway 61 runs north-south through town, connecting to Grant 15 miles south and continuing toward Ogallala. Most trips are short runs to nearby farms or Grant for services, while longer journeys head northeast 45 miles to North Platte and Interstate 80. The town's grain elevator stands tall beside the railroad tracks along Highway 61.
