Elsa is a small farming town in South Texas's Rio Grande Valley, about 15 miles northwest of McAllen via US 83 and FM 88. The city of 5,700 sits amid citrus groves and vegetable farms in flat Hidalgo County terrain. Most residents commute to McAllen for work, while the town maintains one of Texas's last city-owned cotton gins that still processes local crops each harvest season.
