Elmore is a small Alabama town of about 1,500 people located 25 miles northeast of Montgomery along State Route 9. Visitors typically arrive via I-65 Exit 205 or US-231 from Montgomery. The town sits in rolling hill country and serves as a gateway to Lake Martin, Alabama's largest lake just 15 miles northeast. It's home to a major state correctional facility that's been operating since the 1960s.
