Ellston is a tiny farming community in south-central Iowa near the Missouri border, home to fewer than 30 people. Reach it via Highway 2 and County Road P53 from Mount Ayr, about 15 miles southwest. The area features rolling agricultural hills and experiences Iowa's full range of seasons. The historic one-room schoolhouse remains standing from the early 1900s.
