Ellerbe is a small Sandhills town in south-central North Carolina, reached via US 220 from Rockingham or Interstate 73/74. The main routes are US 220 running north-south and NC 73 going east-west through town. Charlotte Douglas International Airport is about 90 miles southwest. The Rankin Museum of American Heritage, housed in a restored 1920s school building, displays an impressive collection of Native American artifacts and Civil War memorabilia.
