Elkin is a small mountain town in North Carolina's Surry County, accessible via US Highway 21 from Interstate 77 (Exit 82 or 85). The town sits along the Yadkin River in the Blue Ridge foothills, about 90 miles north of Charlotte. NC Highway 268 connects Elkin east to Mount Airy and west to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The downtown area features Gilvin Roth Park with its working 1916 carousel.
