Elgin is a small city in southwestern Oklahoma, about 15 miles from Lawton via US Highway 277. The town of 3,600 sits where the Wichita Mountains meet the plains. Most visitors arrive from Lawton and connect to Interstate 44 for longer trips. The area hosts an annual Owl Festival celebrating the burrowing owls that nest in nearby prairie dog towns.
