Elgin is a farming town of 642 people in north-central Nebraska, about 70 miles northwest of Grand Island. Highway 14 runs north-south through town, connecting to Neligh and Central City, while Highway 70 provides the east-west route. The community sits in rolling agricultural country typical of the Great Plains, with hot summers and snowy winters. Elgin hosts an annual summer festival featuring a parade of restored vintage tractors from the 1920s.
