Elgin is a farming town of about 1,100 people in southeastern Minnesota's bluff country. Highway 42 runs through the center, connecting to Highway 63 for access to Rochester (45 minutes south) or the Twin Cities (90 minutes via Highway 52). The historic Elgin Creamery building downtown recalls the area's dairy farming past.
