Electra is a small Texas town of 2,351 people located 20 miles northwest of Wichita Falls on US Highway 287. The main route runs straight through rolling prairie country, connecting to Dallas-Fort Worth 140 miles southeast and Amarillo 200 miles northwest. Most locals commute to Wichita Falls for work via the same highway. The town was named after a railroad executive's daughter and is the birthplace of baseball legend Cy Young, who won 511 games during his career from 1890 to 1911.
