Eldridge is a tiny Walker County community of 133 people, about 45 miles northwest of Birmingham via Interstate 22. Access comes mainly through State Route 269 from Jasper (15 miles north) or Highway 69 from Tuscaloosa (35 miles south). The area sits in rolling hills near the Mulberry Fork of the Black Warrior River, surrounded by remnants of early 1900s iron ore mining operations that once powered Alabama's steel boom.
