Eldred is a tiny farming community in west-central Illinois, about 45 miles northwest of St. Louis with just 172 residents. Reach it via Interstate 72 west to Route 67 north, then Route 108 west through scenic agricultural country. The town sits in Greene County's rolling farmland along the Illinois River valley. Its historic one-room schoolhouse from 1868 still stands as a testament to rural education.
