Eldon is a small farming town in southeastern Iowa, home to 726 people and famous for one big thing. Highway 16 runs right through town, connecting to Ottumwa 15 miles west and continuing toward the Mississippi. Most out-of-state visitors come via I-35 and Highway 34. The real draw here is the house from Grant Wood's "American Gothic" painting, which still stands on American Gothic Street and attracts photographers from around the world.
