Elco is a tiny Washington County borough 25 miles southwest of Pittsburgh, accessible via I-70 to Exit 15 and PA Route 221 south. This former coal company town of 280 residents sits in rolling Pennsylvania countryside along Route 221. The name "Elco" comes from "El-Co," short for the Ellsworth Coal Company that originally founded the community.
