El Quiote is a tiny community of 51 people in Starr County, just 15 miles from the Mexican border. Take US Highway 83 west from Rio Grande City, then turn north on Farm Road 755 for about 3 miles. The town sits in remote ranch country where cell coverage can be spotty and EV charging is scarce. El Quiote is named after Don Quixote, Cervantes' famous literary knight.
