El Cenizo is a small border town of 2,100 people located 15 miles south of Laredo via US Highway 83. The drive from San Antonio takes 2.5 hours on I-35 south to Laredo, then US 83 south for 20 minutes. This Rio Grande community made national news in 2017 as the first US city to conduct all official business in Spanish.
