Effie is a tiny Minnesota town of 77 people in Itasca County's lake and forest country. Highway 38 connects it south to Grand Rapids (25 miles), while Highway 169 provides the main route from Minneapolis (200 miles, 3.5 hours). The area's dense woods and numerous lakes make it popular for hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. Effie operates one of Minnesota's smallest post offices in a building that doubles as the community's informal gathering spot.
