Edwards AFB is a small military town in California's Mojave Desert, built around the famous flight test base where Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier. Located 60 miles northeast of LA, it's reached primarily via Highway 14 from the Antelope Valley or Highway 58 from Bakersfield. The base features one of the world's longest runways at 15,000 feet, built on the flat surface of Rogers Dry Lake.
