Edgemont is a small railroad town in southwestern South Dakota near the Wyoming border, serving as a gateway to the Black Hills. US Highway 18 runs east-west through town, connecting to Hot Springs and Newcastle, while State Highway 471 heads north toward Custer. The restored 1916 railroad depot now houses the local museum with original wooden benches and vintage memorabilia.
