Edcouch is a small farming town in the Rio Grande Valley, 20 miles northwest of McAllen near the Mexican border. US Highway 83 runs right through town, connecting east to McAllen and west toward Roma, while State Highway 107 heads north to Edinburg. The flat agricultural landscape produces citrus and vegetables year-round in the subtropical climate. A roadside marker on US 83 commemorates Edcouch's former title as "Spinach Capital of the World."
