Eastpointe is a Macomb County suburb just northeast of Detroit, home to about 34,000 residents. Interstate 94 runs along the southern edge, connecting to Chicago and Port Huron, while Gratiot Avenue provides the main north-south route into Detroit. Nine Mile and Ten Mile Roads offer east-west access to I-696. The city was called East Detroit until 1992, when residents voted to rebrand with a more upscale name.
