The county seat connects east to Dallas-Fort Worth and west toward Abilene, with State Highway 6 providing north-south access. Most long-distance travelers arrive via Interstate 20, exiting at Cisco or Ranger to reach town. The city is famous for its courthouse, which displays Old Rip, a horned toad reportedly found alive after being sealed in a cornerstone for 31 years.
