Earth is a small farming town in the Texas High Plains, about 35 miles northwest of Lubbock via US Highway 70. The community sits amid cotton and grain fields in Lamb County, accessible from US 385 north or FM 1055 from Plainview. The town got its straightforward name when early railroad maps simply labeled the location "Earth," and residents decided to keep it when officially incorporating in 1925.
