Earlham is a small farming town in Madison County, about 25 miles southwest of Des Moines via I-35 and Highway 92. The main route from Des Moines takes I-35 south to Cumming, then Highway 92 west. Most locals commute to Des Moines for work, while shorter trips connect to nearby Winterset. The town was named by Quaker settlers after Earlham College in Indiana.
